I've had aluminium frames 'media' blasted in the past and have come out really nice.
I know from the Gillott marquee enthusiast that Gillott frames don't like sandblasting. There's some filling where the seat stays are brazed on the seat tube that gets eaten out when sandblasting. That's why I'd like to avoid it.
Sounds very sensible and well researched. After digging through old emails my alu frames were glass bead blasted should that info be of any use.
