Habedashery(?) shops should stock similar if not identical. For just a tenner though I'd ask carradice to do the repair.

Trouble it needs an exact match, or that top part needs to be unstitched and re-stitched. I can't find a match so far so may well just end up doing that.

Don't know why I didn't think of that before really...

I'm confused, what actually broke there? was that grip bit just built into the other part of the buckle?
-
• #984
yeah, the second rung of the bottom half of the buckle, that locks onto the strap. Remembered I had some of those webbing locks in the cupboard, now I have adjustment back

I'm thinking of switching from panniers to a carradice saddle pack system for commuting and maybe some light touring.
I'm totally torn between a Nelson longflap with bagman or a super c sqr tour.
How does one choose between the two?
In terms of what I'll be carrying, mainly clothes, sometimes lunch, rarely shoes.

If you're commuting you probably want a bag with a quick release so it's easy to put on and off each day.
The SQR acts as a quick release whereas the bagman has to be bought separately and isn't cheap, nigh on £50 I think.
On the other hand, if you have a carbon seatpost there are questions over using the SQR with those.

Thanks for this, using an alu seatpost and leaning towards the super c tour or slim. The Nelson is much nicer looking but I've read that it's a bit more fiddly with the leather buckles etc.
-

I've got a Nelson with the SQR system and you are welcome to have a look for size, fiddly-ness..
You know where I live.

Talking of SQR, as anyone got a spare pair of the largers bands they don't need?
-

Cheers dude, actually managed to pick up a new carradry sqr bag off the outlet store on eBay. The carradry ones aren't the prettiest but couldn't turn it down for that price.

What are people using to re-proof their duck cotton? I think I just used bees wax before but it seemed to wear off pretty fast
-
• #993
I used the Carradice stuff last time I did mine; IIRC it's rebranded Millerain wax (literally; they've just put a Carradice sticker on the lid of the tin). Any wax proofer should work, mind - I've got some Barbour wax for my rain cape and will use that next time, as it's cheaper per ml in the big tin I got.

They are £3 on the Carradice website.

There are some cracking bargains on there sometimes. Good find!

Get a bar of Fjallraven Greenland wax. Works a treat

I have a Super C Audax saddlebag with Bagman support for sale if anyone is interested.
I only used it twice and it's in mint condition. £50 for both. -
• #999
That is a very good price, shame you didnt have this up a month or 2 ago!

Is it the oldstyle/sport bagman support,
or the more recent expedition/ quick release one?
Has anyone ever come across spares for these kind of buckles? Carradice said they'll fix it for £10 but I thought I'd check here before I send it away.
