Less air! I run Schwalbe ones at about 80 tops. They’re still very fast and I’ve never lost grip. 110 won’t be any faster, it will just feel it due to road vibration

Less air. Much less air...

When it was really snowy about 5-6yrs ago I was on 19c tyres. Never again...

Fatter tires, less air. Thread will only help off road, on road slicks are safer. That said maybe it's a matter of confidence, everything will slid on a damp drain cover.

Don't ride on drain covers!

Seconded. Nightmare if you touch one going around a corner and it's damp.

I remember riding 72"fixie with the CTC over blackstone edge or the snake pass, somewhere like that. I'd got a serious wiggle on going downhill and hit a cattle grid on a corner, the whole bike slid about three feet, much to the amusement of my mates. How I stayed on was beyond me.

Will try less air! Had a couple of pinch puntures early on with the Schwalbes at lower pressures but would prefer that to a spill!

General consensus on here is also “don’t lean”

Deffo "don't lean" on wet/damp/moist drain/manhole covers :)
had excitement on motorbikes and small cars on them so it's not just a bicycle thing.
never had a problem with a 18ton lorry though.
If you ever attempt the Fort William World cup downhill track....... never touch either brake as you go through the deer fence crossing, nice little cattle grid you tend to leave the track sideways even when it's dry as it's highly polished and thats using super tacky 35a to 40a race tyres.

I have 28c conti 4-seasons on my Cube road bike and I inflate them to 80psi.
Been riding over winter on 23mm and now 25mm Schwalbe One slicks at about 110psi on a c.7.5kg Cube road bike. I never feel confident down hills with even the slightest bit of water/grit on the road. Went out in the cold this morning and the rear slid out instantly on a damp drain cover. Do I need more tread? Less air? More bottle?
