• Been riding over winter on 23mm and now 25mm Schwalbe One slicks at about 110psi on a c.7.5kg Cube road bike. I never feel confident down hills with even the slightest bit of water/grit on the road. Went out in the cold this morning and the rear slid out instantly on a damp drain cover. Do I need more tread? Less air? More bottle?

  • Less air! I run Schwalbe ones at about 80 tops. They’re still very fast and I’ve never lost grip. 110 won’t be any faster, it will just feel it due to road vibration

  • Fatter tires, less air. Thread will only help off road, on road slicks are safer. That said maybe it's a matter of confidence, everything will slid on a damp drain cover.
