  • Got an explorer 2 . So that's got to be twice as good as an explorer 1 .

  • Speaking of which, that place in Grays Antiques right near the entrance had a really nice 1016 a while ago.

  • ^^ It's not tho is it. 😎

  • Good luck finding a new one @Tenderloin - there's a waiting list. As someone else said, used watch shops around Bond St are your best bet. Or if you're looking at the 39mm just try on an Oyster Perpetual. Basically the same case innit. Just the Explorer's a bit taller I think.

  • The milhouse and chair king are probably closer in shape.

  • I'm in Geneva today if you want me to find one to buy...

  • I have just checked and we have one in stock , just waiting on a callback to see if is allocated to anybody.

  • Just had a call back and we have a spare unallocated Explorer available in our Windsor showroom.

  • OOOOOOooo

    what ya gonna buy me?!

  • Very nice, I do fancy one of those at some point.

  • @Dammit herringbone strap available in Geneva airport...

I'm here for the next 2.5 hours if you want me to enquire.

  • Please do- no news from Omega on Oxford Street, situation is that they can get the strap but not the buckle

  • Will do.

@Tenderloin rolex boutique in Geneva airport; explorer 1 39mm (new obvs) £5,500

    Edit: 5500 chf not gbp

  • @dammit no luck. They're expecting them separately in April but won't sell the one in the window...

  • @Soul cheers buddy - it will be a 30th birthday present so not until November but I've never tried one on. New one, 39mm is what I'm after. It's between that and the JLC Polaris auto.

@ejay2.0 If I have a date in mind is it best to speak with you nearer the time? Would much prefer to buy from you than WoS or Watchfinder etc.

  • No worries mate.

I got laughed out of the shop when I asked about availability of a steel daytonas... Maybe next year.

  • Thanks for asking, appreciate it.

  • No worries. Passed 5 mins of the 3 hours I was sat around twiddling my thumbs...

Finally on a flight now at least.

  • This may not be as sacrilegious as my post when I received the watch - 5 weeks ago tomorrow. Drop from about 3.5 feet onto a tiled floor - it fell face down.

  • Ouch! What are they quoting to fix it?

  • Interestingly, the quote is about £7 less than a new watch. £352. I think the Apple guy I spoke to got something wrong. It is not repairable and I think they can replace a watch fir £225.
I have used our house insurance and should get a new watch today - cost £100 excess.

  • Apple said they could not fix it as particles of glass would cause issues further down the line.

  • Ive had a touch wid the sugar glass.

    😎

  • Update - Apple quote was £329 to replace the watch. New watch is £359.
Enquiries reveal the Series 3 glass replacement may stop the water resistance so best to replace the complete watch. Or, have it replaced and avoid water.

Normal service will be resumed shortly - still lusting after a Speedmaster 😁
