It looks like you've got suspended floorboards in the kitchen? You can get this rubber tube stuff that squeezes in between the floorboards using a special roller tool to plug the gaps. It's an afternoons work, but effective (also good for draughts if you get them).
We're in a similar situation of chasing gaps around the house - I believe it's the only way to stop the mice completely. I'm sure this isn't their only point of ingress but might be a good place to start.
