Odd one I’m trying to solve for my parents at the moment that I’d really appreciate some help on.
Flight booking with BA to USA from London. They check in online. Arrive at airport in the next morning and try to drop bags off and board flight to be told their booking had been cancelled (presumably in the 24 hours between them checking in and arriving at the airport). Have to drop a small fortune to buy new tickets to get on the flight (they couldn’t miss it).
Few back and forths with BA trying to get compensation given they didn’t cancel the booking at any time. BA essentially saying booking was cancelled online so that’s that. Get stuffed.
What do I do as a next step? I think I need to surely request evidence that the booking was cancelled online? I’m pretty computer illiterate so what would that evidence look like? How can BA show that someone logged into my dad’s account and the relevant time and clicked the cancel button?
If they can’t provide us with evidence the booking was cancelled then surely that’s a slam dunk if it went to court?
If they can provide us with evidence that it was cancelled then what the hell do we do then?! Either my dad’s acccount has been hacked (for some unknown reason) or the BA system has just gone mental. I don’t know how we argue that.
It’s all a bit his word against theirs at the moment. But purely from a logical standpoint, why in the name of fuck would anyone book a flight, check in, call up about flight details, cancel and then arrive at the airport to board all with 24 hours?! Makes no sense.
Anyway, sorry for long post, any help appreciate as I’m a bit stuck and it’s a lot of money for them.

No, ring them up again and complain.
I've had several new routers from them over the years. One died and I just told them to send me a new one, it arrived the next day. Another time I just wanted one of the newer ones as they tended to get faster speeds, again they sent it no problems.
It may be useful to speak to them on her behalf (you may need her on the line to agree to this) but, most likely, you'll get someone different who will agree to send one without a problem.
I had a spare one (of the latest ones) sitting around for ages as they played the 'replace everything' to fix a fault that was actually a misconfiguration at the exchange. I only got around to returning it the other week.

so as per a previous post - wanted 10sp hydro road, @amey sent me in the right direction, until i realised i have post-mount frame
so looked at 11 speed post mount groupset - ultegra - £749 is the cheapest
but i wonder if i am limiting my future choices spending that sort of money on an alu post-mount frame when i could get new 10sp 105 flat mount carbon bike for just £300 more!

Keep at them, don't let let lie. Keep records of your conversations/communications with BA. Use twitter and consider small claims court. Even if they did manage to cancel it themselves, the fact they were able to without realising would tell me that the system/UI is not fit for purpose. The evidence of them not k owing it was cancelled would be that they turned up for the flight.

Ask BA for a reciept of cancellation. Ask them for the precise time and the method through which the cancellation was made. Ask for copies of any emails or text messages sent.
Get on to the credit card companies involved they might help you
Go through the browser history of the computer on which the check in was made and see if there’s anything weird in there.
It sounds like a massive cock up

New page damn it
What tester said. This can be economically referred to as a 'new page fail fail'. :)
-
• #90059
But 'fail fail' has more letters than 'damn it'.
-
• #90060
But not more than 'damn it damn it' or 'damn it fail'.

A friend is after a new bike, she has £300 tops to spend. Is there anything currently available that’s not going to be a bit shit for that money?

If she wants new, then Decathlon's B'Twin range are good value.
The Triban 100 is on-trend with a 1x er... 7 drivetrain and 32mm tyres, for £250.
And the Triban 500SE is well regarded and on sale at the same price as the 100: she is over 6'4" right?
This from Wiggle isn't terrible for £250.
PS Did you see my PM about the Turbo Cotton?

I have a Genesis CDF going for 400, yes it's above her budget but willing to take the balance in installments!
Too many bikes and this unfortunately has to go.
32 tyres, full length guards, can throw in a rear pannier rack too for 20.

Does anyone know anything about cross trainers?
My wife would like one, so has tasked me with finding one, we have a budget of £300 which seems to put us in the lower-mid consumer level.
From my reading I should be looking for a heavy as posssible flywheel and a decent stride length too.
So far in the lead is this offering from decathlon https://www.decathlon.co.uk/e-shape-cross-trainer-id_8358831.html
Anyone know anything better for a similar price?

I don't know about specific models but it's the kind of thing that you can pick up reasonably cheaply second-hand if you have access to a van/large estate as it is so awkward to sell the things on.
Otherwise, Powerhouse Fitness tend to be good for this kind of thing. Something like this https://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/kettler-rivo-p-black-edition.php

How much is a gym subscription?

• #90073
Cheers, am keeping an eye out on all the second hand sites, but currently it is £50 Argos specials. Shall have a look at powerhouse too.

Sadly not an option for us, nearest gym is 15 miles away, we both work full time and have a two year old, so the days of a leisurely gym trip are long over.

USB charger / bike light charging problem.
Got a new Anker USB charger than delivers 2.4Amp. Problem is, it never seems to finish charging my lezyne power drive light. It flashes green to indicated normal charging speed, or blue for fast charge (whatever that is). And when it finishes it stops flashing. However with this charger it just flashes forever, if I move the light to a different charger it shows its finished, but then back on the anker it flashes again like it hasn't.
Weird thing is, it seems to be jumping between normal charge speed and fast charge, it flickers blue every few seconds then back to green.
Is it teetering around the amperage threshold between normal and fast, and therefore never showing as finished?
Same thing happens with my cateye volt.
Yes it will work. Am currently in the process of setting up a 1 x 11 Di2 system, using the climbing shifter and the Hylex conversion kit you can get for this.
