I was a big fan of his work on 'The Simpsons'...but I'm low-brow.

He did well....we've recently lost one friend to MND, and have another with not much time left....fucking cruel disease.

Why crying. Assuming you don't over every person who's expanded our understanding of Things. Just curious really.

Sad, especially as I've only just got over the death of Maude Flanders.

I had a cousin who died within 2 years of being diagnosed, he had been a young fit and healthy man.

The fact Stephen Hawking lived for over 50 years with MND is incredible.

Against all the odds, what a live to have lived.

tbf I can't remember crying when people I did know died. In fact, my response at my aunts funeral to my cousin, her (at the 15 year old) son, when he asked me "how are you doing" was an over enthusiastic "yeah actually really good thanks, how are you!"

My emotional response changed massively with fatherhood.

I used to be the stoic one at funerals but now I'm usually one of the first blubbery messes.

Me too but then I've mostly only lost ancient relatives. Proper blubbed when a mate my age went. Guess it makes it all seem more real.
