Sorry for more annoying questions, but is it fine to leave the stem raw, without powder coating? I prefer that finish and don't mind if there is patina or wear over time, as long as it's not compromising anything critical.

Yet to come. We might not use paypal because of the 3% loss.

It won't be critical if you oil it once in a while. I will give it some Jade oil for you. The Jade oil lasts quite a while once hardened/dried if you keep bike indoors over night.

Haven’t tried jade oil and had a similar opinion of linseed from the first time I used it but just recently I tried ‘smoking’ it.

There was no smoke but heating the piece with a torch and then torching it again after applying the oil left a really nice matt finish. No stickyness at all. I ended up not using the bars I did it on so they’ve not been out in much weather but they’ve not developed any corrosion.

Could set up a PayPal.me account to avoid fees?

Edit: oh wait, steerer is probably too short. But threaded headsets are the devil.

Get a cheap 1" fork, weld the steerer on top.
