Ways not to lock your bike

  • If you zoom in carefully you might see a thin piece of wire tying two of the bikes together, but otherwise not a lock in site. How many £thousands in one photo? Devon folk are a lot more trusting that Londoners...

  • Ever locked your keys in your car?

I have, in the centre of Glasgow. Spent about half an hour trying to break into my car on a busy street and none of the probably hundred or so people that walked past said anything, only about 3 or 4 even looked at what I was doing.

Climbed in a neighbours front window this morning as she'd locked herself out and was too small to reach the window. Overlooked by plenty flats and houses so expected some interest in what we were doing, nada.

I lost the keys to one of my roof-mounted cycle racks a while back. Came out of Halfords with a lump hammer and a long-bladed screwdriver, smacked the screwdriver into the lock, forced it round, took off the bike, and no-one in the very busy car park said a damn thing while I was doing it.

  • Nice one.
    Great photo as well!

  • Frame locked with a mediocre lock to a shit lock, it's a miracle they only took the wheels..

  • Excellent. Please add to the old Fishy looking bikes thread . I don't think even the great @Rodmunch saw animals in half-stolen bikes.

  • Pocket lock.

  • Whats the craic with fishing bikes out of the Thames ?
Report it to police and if it's not claimed in 6 weeks you get to keep it ?

  • Finders keepers, surely?

  • Dunno, it's one of those App rental things that only have a wheel lock......... would you need a mudlark licence :)

  • 2kg £80 lock attached to back wheel and piece of thin metal attached with 2 screws.

To be fair, really the fault of whoever decided those terrible bike stands are fit for purpose

  • No it wasn't locked to the other bike behind the pole.
Yes he did slide the lock under the cable instead of locking the frame at least.
