  • A completely random, stupid and not remotely related to bike quesiton.

Does anyone know how far back does the Home Office record go? I was born in HK but I have held a full British passport since 1995, so if I remember correct, I should have had 4-5 British passports in total as the children ones only last for less than 5 years, it did for me anyway. Problem is, my most recent 2 passports got stolen during a break in and I have no idea where the older ones have gone. All I have left is the passport numbers of the 2 recent old ones and obvs the current vaild passport.

I am worried that with Brexit and all that shit exposed in the media, one day my British citizenship might be challenged and I won't be able to proof that I have been a British Citizen since 1995... Am I worrying over nothing? Does it matter at all how long one has been a British Citizen for when it comes to rights to stay / work / NHS etc etc?

  • As tester says - a passport is for travelling. We have no domestic ID card or papers, although the threat of them being introduced is ongoing.

Being from a country where everyone has one, how does this work? How do you prove you are who you say you are/not who someone else says you are?
