Am I worrying over nothing? Does it matter at all how long one has been a British Citizen for when it comes to rights to stay / work / NHS etc etc?
- Yes
- No
The Home Office knows about your citizenship, your passport is only to tell forrins about it. It is not a domestic identity document, although frequently misused as such, and for most of history most people didn't ever have one.
UK citizens' rights and privileges are not tapered in, they all accrue in full as soon as you're a citizen, whether by birth or naturalisation. - Yes
A completely random, stupid and not remotely related to bike quesiton.
Does anyone know how far back does the Home Office record go? I was born in HK but I have held a full British passport since 1995, so if I remember correct, I should have had 4-5 British passports in total as the children ones only last for less than 5 years, it did for me anyway. Problem is, my most recent 2 passports got stolen during a break in and I have no idea where the older ones have gone. All I have left is the passport numbers of the 2 recent old ones and obvs the current vaild passport.
I am worried that with Brexit and all that shit exposed in the media, one day my British citizenship might be challenged and I won't be able to proof that I have been a British Citizen since 1995... Am I worrying over nothing? Does it matter at all how long one has been a British Citizen for when it comes to rights to stay / work / NHS etc etc?
