It won't be critical if you oil it once in a while. I will give it some Jade oil for you. The Jade oil lasts quite a while once hardened/dried if you keep bike indoors over night.

I’m planning to linseed oil mine, there’s a raw steel treatment thread somewhere and I posted recently about using linseed oil.

Sorry for more annoying questions, but is it fine to leave the stem raw, without powder coating? I prefer that finish and don't mind if there is patina or wear over time, as long as it's not compromising anything critical.
