is that really what £250 worth of extra metal looks like?
Apparently it's what about £5 of extra metal and amortising the programming time over a shorter production run looks like, to a Japanese person. To my machinist, 5 units came to less than twice the price of one, since the job is so front loaded with programming and set up. Sugino use more expensive metal that Gebhardt, and Japanese labour is more expensive than Czech, but I doubt whether their machines are any better, so it's hard to see where the money is going since a Gebhardt 66T track ring is €85.95 from Bike24
Hipster tax much? That's about 50% more than the machinist wanted for doing a much more complex one off 72T.
