Just watch I bet the fedex driver convicted of 8 counts of death by careless driving will get a sentence about the same as Charlie A.

Obviously we'll never know, but given how much of the case focused on the illegality of his bike, it's not unreasonable to think he would have otherwise got away with a suspended sentence.

Remorse and readiness to comply with the investigation is also factored into sentencing guidelines.

I seem to remember that CA embellished various things and also showed no remorse at all, according to the judge.

It might seem weird at first to consider that remorse might lead to a shorter sentence but prison isn't just about punishment, it is also about protection of the public and somebody who demonstrates remorse is less likely to be a repeat offender.

I feel its worth pointing out that the prison sentence is for lying to investors, not any of the other pretty deplorable things he's done

Also didn't the woman who brought the lawsuit admit that she got her money back with the right amount of interest, it was just that he had put it into a different company than he said he would during the investment.

I think it was more down to securities fraud. In particular, producing fake accounts to hide hedge fund losses and raising investment under false pretences to keep the charade up.

I would imagine this is a godsend to May. She seems to thrive on the sort of challenges where she sees the need for a loud voice of discontent, but where she can plausibly deny anyone access to the details of what she is actually doing about it.
