It’s usually the limit screws on the outside of the mechanism - have a close look at how they affect the mechanism, you want a hairs width of daylight on either side of the jockey wheel when looking from in front/behind, in both gears. If it’s not the limit screws then undo the grub screw on the gear cable and feed a little more cable in.
Also make sure the jockey wheels are sliding back and forth freely, had one the other day that had been packed with grit and cut a groove that was preventing it from sliding.

My bike is clean, well it was until riding in the rain yesterday morning, and the problem is there. It clearly needs adjustment, hence why I asked if anyone had a good guide.
I guess I should know better than to ask a sensible question on lfgss and expect a straightforward answer.
