I'd have liked to have taken a better photo before sharing it, but it's basically finished so here you go:

I'm not keen on Surly the brand but I really like this. Nice one!
Time to add decals of the following sponsors: the AA, Yellow Pages, Caterpillar/CAT, DHL, Chupa Chups & Shell :-) -

Looking good, black bartape works a treat with the yellow.

Thank you both! I'm really pleased with how it's come out. Glad it's not too bumblebee-ey.
Short term I'd like the steerer chopped, and medium term I'll be looking at the front rack, either getting it closer to the wheel or replacing it.
Decent gravel tyres too, after payday. I decided the nanos I got are too worn to start jaunting down the country on. -
• #181
I recommend Gravel king sks, not had a single problem since I fitted em a couple of months back, seen plenty of bridalway, towpath (Macc canal not smooth city centre stuff), and are none too shabby on tarmac.

You know those little extra pieces of bartape you get with the roll? Cut those in triangles and put them under the regular bartape to cover up the brake hood clamps.
Bike looks good! Digging the basket.

Bike was wonderful on the way down to Bristol, but unfortunately my knees blew out by the time I got down to Worcester. The train took me the rest of the way to the city and I had 27 km more to get to the festival. Got some funny looks riding in, but a little cheer from the shuttle bus queue on the way out through the muddy carpark, after which I nearly stacked it.
Enjoyed a little dirt and some small roads on the ride back to Bristol for a weary, satisfied train home to Manchester.
So happy to get this back on the road, and can't wait to get dirt-friendly tyres and mudguards on it. -

Lookin good. My sister in law lives in Bristol, my good lady suggested going to see her at half term, I suggested I ride, what route did you take, and how long did it take you to get to Worcester? Just thinkin about amount of daylight available in October.

Thank you!
Do you use strava?
https://www.strava.com/activities/1137676039
That's the ride, so time and route are on there. Some of it was pretty crap south of Alderley Edge, big roads and a bit of dual carriageway. I made the route by plumbing the postcode into komoot and then dragging it around the cities so you could easily get a nicer one with a bit of effort. -
• #186
I don't Strava, never really felt the need. I'm in Congleton, so already south of Alderley Edge. I was considering using towpaths as much as possible, but this may slow me down a bit. Will have a butchers at Sustrans routes, see if I can find a none to trafficy route.

Right on! Great result, welcome to the #rackandbasketlyfe

Couple additions today:
Mudguards, it's been too long since I've had a bike with then fitted
Silly mtb pedals. The old lifeline ones were feeling pretty flimsy, and I don't have a more appropriate bike to put these on. Actually okay with how they look, even though they're basically boat anchors.

Man, I like this bike. Good work.

Except the disgusting saddle, obvs.

Cheers @russmeyer !
It's handled everything I've thrown at it admirably, but I have to admit that the temptation to swap it out for a straggler is strong. Would love to try 650b. Too attached to the frameset though. -

Really like those Black Mountain monster crosses, like a cross check but with sensible geometry. If importing one wasn't such a pita I'd consider getting one to replace my cc.

Rumblings of some exciting stuff happening with this in the coming months

It's still in discussion, don't want to prem everywhere

Exciting plans are still exciting but unfortunately still plans too.
This is mostly commuter/ride with gf bike at the mo.
Light is still pointing too low. -
• #198
On it's way to being ready for cross. These are just transit wheels - I have some tubs for racing. My rear wheel got nicked the other day, but they left this nice fulcrum wheel in its place. It was pretty annoying but not that bad in the end.
Dolan got the dynamo & light, so this has the old wheel from that. It barely spins so desperately needs a service/skip.
Still todo: remove last bit of gear cable & stop, remove bottlecage, replace brakepads, service brakes, remove a spacer, chop steerer, rewrap bars & fit bigger cog. More than I thought! -

The above was fun for a week or so, silly commutes enjoying the feel of the bike unladen by all the bitsnbobs, but now it's time for drastic change. I've been off sick today so the bike has been stripped down, ready to have some disc mounts added.
I've been pining after proper wet weather braking and 650b for a while so I've decided to take the plunge and found someone who'll take it on. Obviously I could buy a straggler or similar but I'm attached to this thing. Maybe a 3rd bottle cage would be sensible too.Down the line I'm intending on moving abroad with my other half, and if that does happen, I can't imagine it'll be practical to take more than one bike, so this will be the one.

I approve this plan :)
Will you go for an adjustable mount outside the chainstay using the current dropouts, or a whole new dropout setup?
WHAT?!
