I bought the rain jacket II to replace my much loved and very worn out original rain jacket.
I haven't had too many chances to test it out but it does do the job.
I thought I'd miss the rear pocket but they have replaced it with a small side pocket, my biggest issue with it is they have done away with the elasticated panels down the sides and inside edge of the arms, I'm guessing this is to make it"more" waterproof but I never found it to be an issue on the original jacket. Without the stretch of the side panels and arms the fit isn't as adaptable (full jersey pockets underneath compared to empty) and the arms feel a little more restricted when bent at the elbows, it also makes the jacket feel a little bit more bin-baggy than before.
Most of these issues I noticed trying it on in the house and noticed them less when out on the bike.
I've only tried it out in the cold and wet without much climbing, again the old one was super breathable but I think the side panels helped with this, I don't want to comment on the new one in the breathable front as I haven't given it a proper tempo/climbing ride.
The original rain jacket was my favourite item of clothing for the bike ever, the new rain jacket is good but I'm not sure its as good as the first.
I'm now looking at the "Classic II Rain Jacket" as my current rain cape is a cheapo castelli bin bag thing I bought years ago, it works, but it's not great. This would be a significant step up, does anyone have any experience with it? Rapha has a lot of stuff in their range and it's sometimes hard to pin down which product is for what. Is this packable into your back pocket if you go out in the wet and the rain stops?
