It will weight a tonne. I'd rather SS
-

Heavy and it is build on a 2017 frameset compare to the other 2018 Arkose, still a decent bike.
I'd look at the Arkose X instead, lighter frame, and a much more servicable drivetrain, the downside is that it's a 2017 frameset.

Any reason why the alfine Arkose would be a bad idea as an everyday stealth commuter?
Do you carry luggage on your commute? If not ... stop fucking about and go fixed.

I’d love to continue fixed commuting but after doing it for the last ten years my knees are telling me to stop

This was a couple of years back before the gravel thing really kicked off. You're right, it was low and made for exhausting work off road. On the road though it flew and was really comfy despite inline post and Surly like HT.

Can someone quickly outline the differences between the Arkose 3 & 4?
-
• #2968
thanks. isn't this the Arkose 3 with full carbon fork here though? from the looks of things the 3 and 4 have same fork specs

2x10 shimano 105 hydro vs rival 1 hydro
-
• #2971
ah cheers
-

3 have full carbon fork, 2 have alu steerer like last year, the exception is the 4 which come with SRAM Rival.
2 and 3’s shifter felt exactly the same despite being one sprocket difference.
-
• #2973
Ok great. Looks like different shifters and derailleur on both 3 and 4 too, sram vs 105
