• From the digital photography thread:

I have a question - I'm going to Singapore and Malaysia for a study trip in a couple of weeks.
I've promised to take pictures for our report.
I have Nikon D700 and I'd prefer to just bring one lens - but which one to take?
    I have a 28mm f2.0 AIS, a 35mm f2.8 AI and a Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4.
    Any input is appreciated.

I expect it to be kind of general reportage - documenting the companies we visit and other activities.
I've used the 35mm and 50mm the most.

  • If you take both the 28mm and the 50mm, then you've got a useful amount of separation between the lenses and you can use whichever's best for the conditions.

If you stick with taking a single prime, then the 35mm is probably the most versatile. If you're inside a lot the 50mm might be too l0ng, but if you're trying to pick out details or do portraits then the 28mm might be too wide.

Really depends what you're hoping to achieve, though.
