I got a tattoo of Wiggo and Dave high fiving on my chest. WTF am I meant to do with that now. I DEMAND SOMETHING.
-
• #7130
Well I'm fed up with this. From now on I'm only watching clean sports, like football or rugby.

Depends where their funds are coming from. If any part of their money is public, BC, Olympic shizzle, whatever, then they're fair game.
That's a reason why public funds should never have been used to subsidise the den of villainy which is competitive sport, not a reason to get involved in belated theatrical hand-wringing now.

Soon after Wiggins won, I was chatting with a friend and we agreed that we really hoped it wouldn't turn out he was doping. I claimed that if it did, I'd feel so let down that I'd have my road bike cubed and sent to him as as a show of the disappointment I felt. Seems to be getting closer to the point of finding a car crusher ... any excuse for a new frame, obviously.

Yes, that was my point.
Read what I said again and what I was responding to and it should make sense.

You are entirely correct.

So is there any proof of actual wrong doing? No.
Yawn.

They should have added this thread as an appendix to their report since they are much the same; some people saying it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, others saying you still haven't shown us an actual duck.

Team sky are toxic though, that’s for sure. Not a place to be associated with.
I do wonder what the political, if any, aspect of the report it. Not many people are a fan of the Murdochs.

What's the value to Sky putting all that money in now? Toxic brand with Toxic brand.
-
• #7142
Why are they toxic? Do you really think they are the only team who push things right to the edge of what is allowed? The rules are clear, I’d expect all teams to push up against them if they can.
So far, and this could change with the Froome case, no Sky rider has been charged with a doping offence from their time riding with the team. How many other teams can make that same claim since 2010?

if anything happened here, it happened in a foreign country to the detriment of foreign nationals, so it's not even peripherally related to any proper function of the UK parliament or government.
Do not understand. Representatives of a national, state funded body were involved. Also at least two who were given one of the highest honours possible by the UK head of state.
Edit: possibly I've failed to detect sarcasm?

• #7144
Perhaps I’m naive. But I do believe a lot of other teams are not pushing the limits to this extent.
I am the first to say, they’ve not broken any rules and no wrong has been done. However, I don’t like it. I understand it’s grey, but for me, it’s toxic.

Pretty sure faking medical need to get a certificate of exemption for a substance known to provide sporting advantage is sub par behaviour, even if the rules don't appear to be broken.
All the people saying 'no rules broken' would then be stating that if Lance had a proper, pre-dated TUE for his steroid bust in 1999 instead of a post-dated one (which is just as fake as anything Sky has procured by all accounts) that would be acceptable regardless of the fact we now know it was part of a wider doping strategy?

Of course there is wrong-doing all over the place, it's just that there's no evidence that any involve drugs. Starting on day 1 with the absolutely obvious conflict of interest (not a potential conflict of interest) having staff working for both BC and 'Sky' (TRL) at the same time. Just one small example which ties into the doping investigation was Simon Cope, a BC women's coach, instead spending time flying to deliver a package for Sky, a men's team. Another was BC women wearing Sky branding despite not getting any funding.
The fact that Deloitte or whoever it was didn't find a conflict of interest back in 2010 doesn't diminish that.
The reason why they are involved or have chosen to be is in the name of the committee. Your concerns about a PCSO will be addressed elsewhere.
