Extremely cool!

Building a lock-up bike as my new job doesn't have secure inside parking and I don't fancy leaving any of my current bikes on a busy street for 10+ hours a day.
Undecided whether to go single speed or fixed but I'm set on riserz with two brakes. Maybe flat pedals and straps, too.
Components will be freebies or ratty 2nd handers depending on what comes up first.
What's the forums go to cheapo but half decent front porter rack?

Had a fun few days in the snow on the C-track. Surprisingly it fits 28c tyres

Also..

Do you mean going over the handlebars? I just kept falling off to the side. I haven't been mountain biking in over 10 years so think I just need more practice! I think I could do with a shorter stem anyway though.

Cheers! Seller’s pic doesn’t really show the colour properly. I expect it to be more like this:

That is exactly what I'm doing at the moment too

Nice! What frame are you building up?

So good!

I've not got one yet. I'm aiming for 80s or 90s road frame and doing it single speed with risers or maybe rear derailleur with thumb shifter.

gave my bike a clean and a photoshoot today
will probably move front mudguard position a bit and trim front cables which are a bit long.
then longer term move to a smaller cassette and 48/32 chainrings as per @edscoble advice
finding the gaps with the 50/34 and 11/36 just a bit much at the moment.

Cheap steel disc forks and a pizza rack? Then run it fixed with a single cheap hydro disc. Great all weather, low maintenance

Hmm, that is an option but I already have brakes and levers. I was thinking one of those racks that mounts to the axle but I'll have to see if it would actually fit the shape of the fork ends first.

Not a bad idea. Fork tips?

The 'cheap' ones of those aren't that good though sadly, I suppose the Pelago Commuter is 'cheaper' but still not that cheap.

I just got some of these:

Under £60 if you can get trade. If not maybe speak to a Genesis dealer to get a replacement CdF/TdF fork?

Ha, I'd mark my experience down as 'survived at best'. Was much more comfortable riding on it on Saturday afternoon when the temperatures were still sub-zero so there was none of the slush to deal with!

That thing is sick

cheers - i'm pretty happy with it. Can easily fit 48x700 rubber so quite versatile.

Wooha, this is brilliant!

Cheers, the plan is to give it a good clean, replace the chain and grips, throw on a flite and fit some wide slicks or semi-slicks. Any recommendations for suitable tyres on a budget? Anyone have any experience with these: https://www.bike-components.de/en/Continental/Contact-Speed-26-Wired-Tyre-2017-Model-p52545/

Get Schwalbe City Jets, they're great

I didn't like them, but I did like whichever Conti Contact I had :)

I think they're great, lighter and faster rolling than the marathon series with the same high levels of puncture protection.
felt only slightly slower than my compass tyres which I was happy to accept in return for them not puncturing repeatedly and not being £80.
If you were going up and over a shorter stem will help.
Love that gem xtr.
