• There’s a little bit of a fad at the moment in the motoring world, flat grey paint.

    Audi and Porsche both do it, having largely followed a few high end custom shops like Singer. Called Nardo Grey at Audi, standard colour on RS6.

    Thing is, when you see it in the flesh it looks... different? I can’t explain what it is and I’m not sure the photos really bring it out.

    What’s going on here? Is it just a flat grey with high gloss over it, or is there some black magic trickery? Or are we just so used to seeing cars with metallic fleck through them that when someone doesn’t do that, it looks different?

  • You're right... there's LOADS of Nardo Grey out there... we're all bored of it.

    Those images are just as you've described.
    The AUDI is likely a grey with a high gloss over it.

    In the Porsche... it's a grey with gloss... the bonnet is grey, then gloss... then matte...
