  • Not drilling 3 big holes in carbon bars.

  • Then drill small holes. And you just need one hole.

  • That was suggested already by hoops in his OP so I presumed he wanted other options.

  • Why do you need to drill 3 holes?

    What about a bar end junction and then remove the bolts under the stem and route the cable(s) out the holes they leave?

  • Anyone got any Di2 cables they would sell me.

    Or want to swap their 3-port junction box for my 5?

  • Trying to tidy up the front of my bike. It's a wahoo mount that goes into the stem bolt, with di2 junction box below.

  • I gave up trying to make a mount and just araldited my di2 box underneath.

  • I said I'd make one for @hoops who replied "yeah thanks but I just glued mine to the stem" so you're in good company! 🤣🤣

  • How does the mount attach to the stem?

  • By using extended versions of two of the usual four stem faceplate mounting bolts, and the mount then bolts onto the stem faceplate.

    Like Morten Tilquist's mounts.

  • Can the 3D print take that much pressure?

  • Don't see why not. The faceplate stem bolts are only done up to 4 or 5Nm, which would result in very little compressive load on the mount. But I'd assume that the mount above is intended merely as a prototype rather than a production-ready product.

  • This one cant, but the ABS one that will follow should be fine.

  • I would worry about it cracking under fatigue below the bolts. I had a Cateye mount SLA printed a few years ago and although it felt super solid, London roads said otherwise and my light went bye bye. And that was with the weight almost directly over the mount, not out front.

  • Yeah, SLA isnt the one, but am confident ABS could deal with the forces placed on it. I'll test it on @Dammit first, he ha already lost his own teeth, and am quietly confident he won't sue me.

  • I had one of the Tilquist XL mounts, which are machined from aluminium, fail when used with a Garmin 1000. The shorter ones seem OK, but I'm assuming that the additional leverage of the XL unit and the extra weight of the 1000 was too much. It sheared just after the mounting point.

  • But the mount was still secure against the stem?

  • What was left of it, which wasn't much, yes.
