    You say PressFit BB's are stupid, yet most of the worlds industries press bearings in rather then screw them into threads (or push them into cups to be then screwed into threads?!?!). They've been doing it for a long time, and it's been working pretty well so far.

  • I do nearly all my maintenance myself and that's where threaded BBs have an advantage (in terms of availability of tools and ease of installation) - also the idea of bashing a part of your bike with a hammer seems incredibly crude. And, if you saw all the seatpost chat, you might say that I have an unreasonable obsession with replaceability. So they're not for me.

    But that wasn't the point; I was just curious about the creaking aspect though

  • Your point seems to be a maintenance related one so I'll comment on that.
    They're called pressfit, not bashfit. They're also as replaceable and more commonly available than threaded ones so I'm not really sure what the issue is.

    Do you own a tool for tightening a BB? Yes? Then someone has the same tool to press bearings in. You can even make your own one!
