I'm the same, sleeping has always felt like wasted time.
But I'm also more conscious of the science behind muscle recovery, sleep deprivation over-eating, etc. which is why I do stuff like set the alarm because it reminds me that I'm not "missing out" by going to bed earlier I'm actually giving my body more time to repair and get faster.

Nowadays I have an alarm set at 10:30pm to try and encourage me to get to bed. Normally I ignore it but sometimes it makes a slight difference so i think it helps, ie. if it gets me between tasks I'm more inclined to stop and go to bed rather than start something else. Last night I just had to watch another movie though...
