  • Not even a stray sugarbeet in a gutter.

  • No, too late for that. Sugar beet picking season is over. But look at the horrific Slightly Damp Patch of Death! And all those little fluffy clouds. Nightmare. I may need counselling for post-traumatic stress.

  • Thoughts and prayers.

  • I could show you the paths ner my house in Sydenham. They're covered in packed snow and ice no more than 2 cm thick.
It's fucking lethal and people will fall.

  • Photo or it's not realz... ;)

  • I wonder if I can get one of these for tomorrow, there was bugger all grip in Mayfair in the Berlingo

  • How did local government / the council come to own Victorian terraces in London?

A couple of reasons--look at 20th century housing estates and their footprint. Many more were envisaged and councils bought up small sites with a view to demolishing them and combining the land into larger new-build estates. Then the tide turned against councils and in favour of reconditioned older housing.

Another reason was that huge swathes of houses were uninhabited in London in the past couple of decades (the population fell continuously from the time of evacuations during the war until the early 1980s), so that rents were low, and private landlords often neglected their properties completely instead of going to the trouble of repairing and letting them. It was often necessary for councils to acquire houses and do basic maintenance so they wouldn't fall down, or to secure them so that they were harder to break into, or to turn them into council housing. With Thatcher's assault on local authorities, the latter became largely impossible, but some councils kept hold of housing in hopes of better times. Hackney still did major sell-offs in the early 00s.

  • Where can I get a cheap pair of glove liners? I thought my last pair were DHB but I cant see a similar pair on wiggle.

  • Ebay.

Search for Silk glove liners + jasmine.

  • Motorcycle clothing / accessories retailer.

  • Want

From about £21k with a VAZ petrol engine or £26k with a Kubota diesel

The Trophy model is cheaper and looks more practical as a daily driver, based on the classic UAZ minibus

  • thanks!

@JurekB Thanks too, might end up buying IRL if I cant last any longer and they dont get here in time

  • Could do with one of these driving full time with a radio in it - when a taxi passes you too closely you call the driver up and he chases it down and crushes the offender. Bet we could crowdfund enough money to pay for a year's salary for the driver.

  • It's got two speeds* - it's good for stuffs but chasing probably isn't it

    * and a reduction gear or somthing

  • It's got two speeds*

5-speed gearbox with 2-speed transfer case, as on the regular one, plus a reduction gear to suit the bigger tyres. I wouldn't want to go chasing after anything in a stock UAZ minibus, but you can probably get that FatVAn version up to 40mph if you're brave enough.

  • Snow tyres today ?

  • WFH, one of the tyres had to go in the bin as bead snapped somehow, so no rear tyre except a 25c gatorskin, new one arriving today/tomorrow. been staring wistfully out the window all morning.

I'll go for a run instead

  • Have 10 million double chainring bolts. Need a set of single. Chainrings are like 2.5mm thick. Where buy five 2.5mm-thick washers very cheap? Cheaper than buying even more bolts?

  • Use an old chainring ;)?

  • Lol I did consider hacking one up into little circles. Not worth the £7.99.

  • I believe Islington CC are running ride workshops on how to lead rides, drop them a line.

  • Good choice 😀

I took the opportunity to get the Arctic Tallons out again. Great on the trails and the roads covered with compacted snow. But they sound like a herd of horses tap dancing whilst on clear tarmac.

  • Can anyone suggest a mobile phone pouch that attaches to a backpack strap and holds a nexus 5x?
I have a roadrunner cell pouch 2.0 on one bag and wanted the same again, but velotastic (only UK seller I've seen) sent me the smaller one by accident, as they have a stock issue and don't have the large one available.

    Requirements:
    Robust
    Black, grey or similar
    Key loop
