• Still eligible? I've been having many thoughts about gnarmac'ing one of these but I wonder would it just be miserable to ride on the road?

  • They both look like drop bar off road bikes. Tyres are huge grippy things that would sap energy on road. No idea what a lauf fork would be like.

  • They look like they'd be good in a country with long, easy off tarmarc riding eg US or Scandinavian gravel roads. We don't have many of those in the UK. Personally I would choose a more traditional gravel bike for UK mixed riding or get a mountain bike for off road. The stache with MTB bars will be way more fun on sungletrack than the one with drops.

At least that's been my experience riding the Surry hills stuff on a monstercross Crosscheck and a hardtail 29er.

  • A Stache or other similar 29er + bikes make decent all rounders with a change of tyres, 3" for mountain biking and 2.1 xc tyres for longer less technical rides.
