The black kitty is the one who is often locked out and annoying the hell out of Patch. The tabby has been around since he was a kitten, but he was ever only brave enough to watch from the garden at the back of mine, never set paws in my garden as far as I know... until black kitty arrived... now the are like the fucking chuckle brothers!!!
Whatever they have discussed and planned, I DO NOT LIKE!!!
Managed to fire the water pistol at them, not sure if either of them got wet though...
Do you think this also has something to do with the fact that Patch is a female? Black kitty is a boy with no balls, not sure about the sex of the tabby... but it looks like a boy...

We have the same in our garden, approximately 3 cats, all male coming round (ours is female).
One is our neighbours upstairs although our cat now seems to tolerate him and they sit like the two in the picture above but that's as friendly as it gets, the two others she hates and chases them off whenever they set foot in the garden.
One of them does sometimes sit in front of the catflap which she doesn't like, but if I open the backdoor she goes out that way and batters him.

seriously now - it does make a difference, i've done it 3 times - get an old tesco-cheap-water bottle and fill it up, squirt it around your edge of the garden, trees, door/cat flap
your male scent is extremely powerful - your cat already used to it - the other cats think your marking your territory and your female
2 big tom cats used to harrass or female, until i did that, for about a month - then they stop coming and go harrass someone elses cat. -
erm... my ex probably would but then I would want to piss on him, so best not.
Black kitty was hanging around this evening for at least 3 hours in subzero temp. Here is what happened - they came out just before 8pm, called his name a couple of times, no cat, too cold, shut door. Black kitty appeared about 30 mins later, locked out, came hang out in my garden and trying to come in through my cat flap, Patch got annoyed, they had a paws fight through the flat, I interjected with the water pistol, black kitty ran. Neighbours came out again about 20 mins later, repeated what they did, no cat... and I think black kitty eventually went back inside just now.
All the need to do is the keep their back door open with a small gap for a little while sama sort of time every evening, problem solved.
I do feel sorry for him.

I haven't actually managed to make black kitty wet yet, first night I did fire but i missed him, now everything I open the window with the water gun, he runs... so it seems the gun shape thing has been registered in his mind as a thing he doens't like.
He was sat outside my door again at lunch time and so I texted the guys upstairs, they came and kitty went straight back inside. So once again, it proves my theory is right - kitty just wants to go inside...
And just heard a bang literally as I am typing this... so it seems like they think their cat loves to stay outside which clearly he doesn't...
