  • Starretts Pro Site Protractor.

  • Grab adhesive.

  • Got a quote in for new boiler (In a different place to the old one) new cylinder and associated pumps, new rads through out (3 bed semi with loft dormer) moving as much of the visible pipework behind the scenes and putting what cant be hidden in a corner to be boxed in.
Removal and disposal of the old stuff.
Came to £7600 Inc value added tax.
    Does this seem reasonable?
    Guy came recommended from pals.

  • Do people actually do this? I suppose your problem is that your kitchen has no ventilation at all because of the stupid bathroom stuck to it.

  • Yep, it's shit. Still don't know what's worth buying

  • But having two toilets is amazing so

  • Peter Sagan can help you

But I wonder how worth while it would be, given that you'd have to have a filter on it anyway to catch the grease, right?

  • It's not just grease that's the problem though, it's also all the steam and smoke in such a small house

  • Steam: dehumidifier

    Smoke: close the door

    But yeah less than ideal

  • Did you get any other quotes?

Did they give you a breakdown?

Does it include making good or will your place be a mess when it's done?

Do you know the model of boiler, rads and whatnot?

  • I paid Around £2500 for a new installation of a Vaillant combi plus all pipework to eight new radiators. May be worth requesting more quotes. Winter isn't a great time to ask.

  • Possibly irrelevant part from recommending the brand, but I got a Neff D49ED22N0B and it's very quiet and could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

    These jobbies any good?

  • NO NAILS.

    DOES WHAT IT SAYS.

(I'm sure coving and no nails isn't a great idea)

  • Also, our boiler broke. Yay!

Defrosting the condensate pipe didn't work, and we have exhausted the limit of our boiler knowledge

  • Watch that first step, looks a doozy!

  • It's okay, Kate's just really small.

    Thank goodness for pallets

  • Any error codes showing on the boiler?

  • E133, gas supply/ignition fault. But gas is fine, hobs work, Kate could smell gas from the exhaust when she was up on the roof, just not firing up. Potterton gold combi he

  • We live in East London and were told by neighbours not to let any of these guys in. A few of our neighbours got tricked over the years. Very similar scenario. Find an excuse or charge very little to do something small and easy on your roof. While up there they remove and break tiles in purpose and raise this as an issue to you. You get worried and think this needs to be fix asap and next thing you know they charge you £300 to replace a couple of tiles...

  • Sounds about right to me but obviously it depends on the size boiler and type of radiators (fancy or basic) you are putting it... Years ago I paid between £2,500/3000 to replace and relocate a Combi boiler.

  • Anyone installed coving before? Hints/Tips/Tricks?

    Don't?

Not because I've installed it before, I just think it's fugly :)

  • Needed to cover up the bad joins between the ceiling and wall and cheaper than getting it done properly

  • I’d like to make some wooden boxes, which would be trivial to do in a workshop- are there workshops that I can rent time in? If so, where are they?
