Something is not right with the handlebars.
Looks like David Byrne in his giant suit -

But yea, a few tweaks and holy cow thats nice!

I think it looks quite ok fit-vice
saddle-bb setback seems to be quite average and that high rise short reach stem to have adequate standover with drop bars? Maybe the frame is relatively long to go both risers and drops.

..or maybe it's one of the "of I have t rex syndrome/short arms" when i reality they just dont ride all that much
-

I think the frame was originally intended to be ran with a boxcar type stem +risers and converted later. The highrise puts the drops at the right height

Bars are just too small.
Anyways, Steve Potts has done nicer ones:

Last photo is same as previous page but with better bars

Chainring must be like a 20 or something. Rear bottle is interesting too.

#Amidoingitright? Built this ‘92 Trek 970 for my lad. Mix of nice secondhand, new and some cheezy parts. Rides wickedo. I think I might get a layback post handy so I can stretch it out and put a comfier saddle on there for when I want to use it.

The luggy unicrown curve on the seatstays is so agricultural, I love it.
Shame my fork’s been switched in some ways, but ahead is pretty useful. Shonky adjustable stem as my lad is growing so fast I want some options.

These forks look ok with the OG paint job, but they're pretty useless functionally, they've got bugger all brazeons despite the rear being covered in them!

I have a NOS one of those with a longer stem length. Let me know if it's of use.

If we're talking 970's. Always good to have a look at the 90's Masters.

So damned cool!
Looks like it's way too big for the owner based on saddle position and stem. Nice though.
