I'd avoid all bike paths tonight/tomorrow morning. looks like they haven't bothered to grit any of them and already looking like ice rinks

Yessum.

Serious ice rink over railway line from Nunhead towards and down into Crofton Park.
Had to get off and walk for a good few hundred yards.
Avoid avoid avoid.

Plus 2 (two!) of my lights died on the way home, so was doubly scared for my life. Must've been the temperature?!

It could be the battery, rechargeable home AA batteries just die when it's under 0 degrees. I found out the hard way, yes :)

"proper" cycle lights have so far been fine.
