  • I went through this last year. I ended up paying about a grand for a decent door through valuedoors, but there were cheaper.

    Whether or not your freeholder can force it through the service charge or just ask you to do it depends on the wording of your lease. For us, doors were the responsibility of the leaseholder, so it was on us to replace them at our cost. However the managing agent didn't understand the regs so he sent out generic comms saying everyone needed to upgrade to FD60 - so many people rebelled because they read up on the regs and this was just not correct.

    Depending on the age and type of property, this or this will be the fire reg document but FD30 seems fairly standard.
