• I don’t think that’s relevant. The OP had been using a 56t, for reasons known to themselves (only chainring lying around?).

    Now they obviously intend to use a smaller one, but have some concern over the potential damage to the frame.

    The question is whether significant material has been removed?

    in other words he can still use that 56 and put different bb with longer spindle...chainline will be out and that make weird sound to the drivetrain

    chainring thickness is almost the same he used big ring and that make touch the chainstay if continue using that frame will be damage sooner or later....
