two things:
1) If you can't find anything thight enough at the ankles, I think you are aiming for the wrong look :) Roll up or stuff-in-sock to avoid wiping the chain when riding.
2) If I had problems with crotchal failures, I'd get some sturdier jeans and have them reinforced from the beginning. Add a yoke to the inside and they should last twice as long. Or add yokes inside and outside and change them when they wear out.

Mate.
I don’t think you understand. Standard and slim fit jeans look like criminal damage baggies on me. I wear a size 6 trainer or boot and combined with my minuscule ankles it’s a fucking nightmare.

• #3004
OK soz. Other point still valid though.
Aren't criminal damage baggies becoming hot atm?

Have you considered eating more?

He’s a dad now, the weight will soon pile on.

Preach!

13 months is long enough to wait before washing new jeans, right?
-
• #3009
Disgusting.

Yes.

Jesus, they'll walk on their own into the washing machine... longest I've gone is six months and that was with Mr Black denim spray as well
-
• #3012
Nice... I'll have to check that one day
-
• #3013
I've tried eating more, I've even googled how to beef up your ankles, but apparently you can't.

How do you manage to not need to wash your jeans for so long whilst raising a child?
-
• #3015
They're my non-child-rearing jeans.
Surprisingly, child is also not as messy as it could be.
I also haven't worn them during any vaguely warm weather, otherwise I'd likely die from heatstroke.

Have you considered wimmins jeans?
-
• #3017
Yes, but I don't know where to start, plus pocket and button issues.
-
• #3018
Also, as ridiculous as this might sound, I'm starting to consider over-priced Italian fashion jeans, and clothing in general since apparently I'm a similar size to Italian men.

Can't get the image to work but how about these lovelies?

Might be worth seeking out Norse Projects denim. They may have changed their cut by now but I remember trying out a pair of their slim jeans a few years back, cone mills denim with a cut so tapered I struggled to get my foot back through the ankle when taking them off. Had to take my socks off and must have been making a massive racket in the changing room

Sounds like the taper on APC jeans ;)

Alban new slim is very narrow at the bottom as well. Too narrow if you as me, but might work on skinnier folk
I ride in my uniqlo selvedge, an absolute bargain at £35. I know it's a sin in this thread, but my 511 commuters have been an amazing purchase as well. Sick fadezzz and can wear them on the bike no worries.
I can barely get onto my bike in my proper jeans. Especially if they are a slim fit or they sit low. Like genuinely slapstick scenes.
