  • Yeah, sadly I paid full price at Blue In Green, though they were very helpful and I was on holiday, so...

  • Just buy a new pair after 6 months you cheap ****. FFS.

  • I quite like sizing down in the ed75s, great fit.

  • @JamesNQ has been yanking y'alls chain past few pages.

  • Good call on these, thanks. Pair arrived yesterday and they fit a treat.

  • Any time sir. Really like em. So much so that I’ve pulled the trigger on a second pair.

  • I've been quite happy with my cheap faux selvedge Uniqlo but the crotch has started to give out in the thighs, where can I get them repaired decently, and is it worth it given that they're only ~£40? As in, how much does it normally cost to repair a crotch in a pair of jeans?

  • Clutch Magazine has opened a shop on Gt Portland Street with 2 floors of Japanese magazines jeans jackets sweats etc. with some UK made leather jackets etc.

    Union chainstitching etc. available too

  • No.
    Yes.

It depends. Have you got them how you like them?

  • Well both pairs have gone now. One from thigh rubbage and the material has worn through, the other the seam has gone on the crotch. I'm thinking rather than buy 2 new pairs of Uniqlo I should buy a decent pair.

  • Are the posh jeans significantly more durable? My mighty crotch and thighs (ooo-er!) can trash most pairs of jeans within about 6-9 months of heavy wear, especially if I'm cycling on them, and I'm loath to spend £££ on Japanese denim pairs etc. if they're not going to last any longer.

  • No. Japanese jeans will be 100% cotton. This is not a tough fabric.

  • I reckon thicker denim is more durable ... but not the crotch where it rubs on itself.

  • Sadly, as suspected.

  • I think it's better to buy a pair that fit and you like. Don't ride in them.

  • Are you sure?

  • Cotton can be so many things. Quality of fibres, staple length, spinning settings, yarn weight and count will all have an influence on durability.
If you know what you are shopping for more money can most definitely buy you objectively better quality and durability.

  • Good Japanese jeans are not meant for cycling in. Crotch blowouts will occur no matter what jeans you buy.

  • D'Arblay St dry cleaners £8

  • Are the posh jeans significantly more durable?

No and yes. Thicker denim is more durable, so your knees and the outside of your calves won't wear through. But the extra rigidity means any friction areas will probably wear faster than thinner mix material denim.

  • They won't charge that much

  • I dumped 5 pairs on them so may have paid a premium

  • It might depend who you see, the woman who's always smiling is a star - the guy less so. Four repairs on my lees for £8 and three repairs on a jacket for a fiver recently.

  • Nothing fits me that well tbh. I have really skinny ankles. Like really skinny. Even if I get my jeans tapered they say what’s feasible is not enough for me. I bought a pair of ASOS super skinny jeans just for sizing and they fit right in the ankles but are tighter than tight everywhere else.

I didn’t really ride that often in my uniqlo jeans but I did spend money having them tapered so I’ll cough up the £8 on @dubtap ‘s recommendation
