So that's what they're for

Yeah, I guess it was because they envisioned it more as a CX frame originally, I suppose it would be handy then. I have previously spent ages wondering what else I could use them for. I used to just keep long bolts in them incase of emergency breakages when touring.

Very clever.
I just wired my Cross Check for dynamo lights and used your advice to use those ultegra di2 cable channel sheaths. Makes for some tidy cable runs along the top tube and elsewhere. Thank you. * Tips Fedora

Initial feelings that the whole f&f was written off is looking better today - partially stripped the bike and checked the alignment and it looks like its just the forks that were fucked. I'll double check, but if thats the case I'll just get some Surly Disc Trucker forks
They're similar enough to the original forks that it should be a good switch.

The beauty of steel that it can take a knock and not be a ticking time bomb afterwards.
Will be glad to see the bike heal with it’s rider! -

That's good at least the frame might be salvageable. I've got Surly Disc Trucker forks and am happy enough with them. They've taken everything I've thrown at them and have never felt flexy. Despite being lugged too think they suit the frame well

Has anyone stripped the paint off a CDF and gone down the raw/lacquer route?
If so any pics? -
• #1285
Thanks guys, the frame is currently at Stayer cycles for a finer level of alignment checking. I didn't want to build it only for it to track to the left or right when riding hands free.

From my commute this morning. I’ve relaced the front wheel with a LoveMud Juice dynamo.

Guess who's back?
Sam, at stayer cycles, has given the frame a through check over and the good news is it was just a bit bent at the back. It's now been straightened out and I'm going to rebuild it. Sadly the forks were a total write-off however so I'm getting new ones.
It won't be getting drops again as I have something special in the works for them...
some inspiration:I've ordered some Light Blue Darwin forks
I'll be amalgamating some bits from my Genesis Day One, but I've got the majority of a 1x10 groupset.
- SRAM shifter
- Apex cranks with a black J&L narrow wide
- my old 650b dynamo wheelset
- carbon seatpost (tak @hulsroy )
- kalloy Uno stem
And I've ordered some slightly smaller tyers; 42c gravel kings
No doubt the pizza rack will go across too.
Currently I'm on the hunt for a med/long cage SRAM mech and I need to decide on bars. I may try some risers for a change.

@platypus
Would love some of those Stooge but the price is a bit much atm, maybe in the future. I may very well take you up on those bars, how wide are they?
I was looking at these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARICLE-XC-20mm-RISER-BAR-OFF-ROAD-MTB-6061-ALLOY-HANDLEBARS-MATT-BLACK-600MM/183053057421?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649@larsenroad Fingers crossed, its a shame most of those bars are silver or not 31.8mm :( I wish they had these:
@umop3pisdn silver :(
Whatever bars I get I should absolutely get one of these:

This is gonna look mint, excited to see the outcome!

Sorry for bringing up painful memories, but what was the full story with your crash? Your rack fell forward into the front wheel and you went over the bars, or did you slam your face on the bars (hence the pink thing)? The frame just got bent in the aftermath, I suppose?
Gonna be great anyway! Respray or keeping it the same?
