  • Be interesting to see if I can get it to start trending back up again.

  • your heart rate is lower - try harder!

    edit

just paid attention to the latest one

  • Technically yes, acccording to all the predictors, and training seems to be going better this year than last, but I’m trying not to think about it too much and training to threshold (which obviously changed for the better yesterday).

In reality I’d be very happy to go sub 3:05 and get another bash at London, as much as I don’t like the busyness of the course I have demons that need to be slayed there..

I’d like to see if I can get into the low 1:23s in Woking in a couple of weeks, before I commit to a marathon pace but 3 and 3:05 are so close it doesn’t matter too much for marathon paced training runs...

  • What plan are you following @Sainsburys_Ed ?

  • It’s my own plan, loosely based on Hal higdon advanced but adapted for me by me, and tried and tested by a group of mates over the last 3 years, with quite a lot of tri training added as well....

  • Putney Vale

The section from Beverley Brook up along the back of the cemetery is my nemesis, should be back doing my 10k loop that includes it next week (and considerably slower than you probably did).

  • Any tips on good-ish cheap-ish kit for tracking data - wristbands or phone straps 'n' apps? I'm a total non-runner, so not sure what the crack is.

  • What data? Strava app on phone will cover most. Needs Ant+ hrm strap (and compatible phone) for hr data though.

  • Just basics I guess - distance, speed, heart rate, GPS.

My phone is massive, don't think I'd fancy strapping it to my arm. So think I'd prefer a watch or something that I can then sync with Strava or whatever. (I've never done any of this, even for cycling, I only ever used heart rate monitors and bike puter... not Strava or owt)

  • All beyond me. Cheaper to use phone in waterproof case & carry in waistpack than drop £££'s on specific gps watch.

Noticing my new A5 isn't very accurate on run gps, but it is good enough for what I'm measuring.

  • True. I'm just not looking forward to getting duffed up for wearing a bumbag again.

  • second run in two days after about a month of faffing around. its all going to be a bit late for the National this Saturday but will hopefully give me a chance of getting involved in the 12 stage relays in some form.

strava on a phone is grand, get a running belt type thing rather than a massive bumbag?

  • In fairness, you should get duffed up for wearing a bumbag.

  • Just bumbags really aren't they though.

  • Maybe it'll make me run faster.

  • Bumbag is a regular tag around here...

If I ever wore one, i'd wear a very long vest to cover it up. Almost long enough to cover the short drop shorts I only ever wear with said vest, obv.

Been binge running with 3rd in 3, first on tarmac. Pain free on run but can feel tight pf now so ice-rolling and resting up until later in week.

  • recommendations for a light running jacket for warmer wet weather? The one I have is for colder dry weather, and was a bit sweaty and damp this evening. Thanks

  • Skin is waterproof.

  • ^That's my club mate Pete, crazy stuff

  • Sounds great, but so many scary, sketchy roads - will he have a support vehicle behind him?

  • sleeveless base layer & tshirt or vaseline and a tshirt

    or a vest if it's a race

  • Got Strava on phone. Seemed to work fine just tucked into a zip pocket. I've worked out a short route. It's only 1.5 miles, but I can't even do that without stopping at the moment! (Crap running legs as oppose to my lungs.)

Immediate goals will just be to get round that loop without stopping. Then build to doing it twice which will give me a nice 5km route.

  • Skin is waterproof.

Is it Friday pearoast time already??

Srsly though, I don't want to run around in a vest in the rain. I'm too much of a weed. Must haz jacket pls.
