Oh cheers, but I'll stick with the - ahem - Schwalbe Lugano I have on the front for now (until it inevitably shreds to pieces on ride 1).
Centred and trued the wheel over Sunday and Monday night. My only previous experience of wheel truing had been a disaster, so I was pretty happy to have it within aboooooouuuuut a mill both laterally and radially by the end. Not perfect, but neither am I.

Ok, so just dropped the Peugeot off for a headset, but also checked my bank balance and I've absolutely hammered the secret account I have to obscure bike purchases from my wife.
There's not a lot left to buy, but Ill have to complete the rest of these projects on a shoestring or based on swaps.
After a 1/8" chain still, but that's basically it. Just got to build up and cable the Peugeot. I'll be doing this on the sly at work, as it happens.

Glued the tub onto the Zipp rear last night and I should have spotted the warning sign. The valve was hissing when I pumped it up off the rim to get a bit of shape into it, but I ignored that and stuck it on.
Went down overnight, obviously, so that's a bit of a pisser. I suspect it was a poorly installed valve extender/core. I'm going to rip it off and re-glue tomorrow.

So here's a lesson: If you're going to be paranoid and put plumber's tape on your valve cores, don't leave little skirts of loose tape that prevent the presta valve from closing properly.

Just been up the bike jumble in Muswell Hill (3+ hour round trip) and spotted a Wolber Profil rim to make a nice pair. It was only a tenner so I grabbed it, but will at some point need to find a hub.
Also got some old school Ti MTB bars for a tenner of the same guy.

Oh, and progress on these bikes I guess.
Finally got a headset on the Peugeot, which cost exactly 2 pence less than the frame cost me. Currently the frameset is working out at £140 all in, which ain't bad. It's locked up at work now, but I'll take a pic when I can. The silver fork isn't a great match but it's not terrible neither.
Personally I'll be moving to Manchester in May, so will hopefully get some good TTs in on the courses in Cheshire over the summer.

Looking good. And how's the meatbag training coming along?
-
• #62
Oh terribly, but every pound I spend on the bike equates to second shaved off my times - fact!
We're moving soon for my wife's work. I've got nothing lined up, so looks like I'll suddenly had lots of training opportunities.

Oh well that's good! Are you in clubs?

J2/1
I know the route like the back of my hand cos I grew up there, practicality, but never ridden it! My dad lives in Twemlow on another course (along the A535).
I shall hit you both up once we move.

Just finished up the Dolan minus bar tape and missing one bolt for the extensions, which I hope to get at lunch. I also cut the brake outer slightly short. I have enough cable knocking around to have another go I reckon.
The chainline looks and measures OK, but is a bit noisy. I can't remember if that's normal or not. Not irregular, just rumbly.

Looking forward to it!
What chain is on it?
-

A Wipperman 108 I think (new). Cog and chainring aren't new, but are in pretty good cond.
I'll take some photos once it's brightened up.

They really don't like running more than a mm our of line ime
-
• #72
That's annoying. I'll see if popping a spacer inside the cog helps. The chain isn't sitting centrally on the ring (it's kind of pulling towards the centre-line of the bike).
-
• #73
Put a little spacer under the cog and it's made no notice difference to anything (but cog now measures 1mm "off" chainline-wise). Pics...

I had a noisy chain for a while when I fitted a new one to otherwise relatively lightly used cog and chaining. Over the next couple of weeks it got quieter as it all settled in together. Only made a noise when actually riding and not when just spinning the cranks in the stand though.
hello , I have a Vittoria Diamante pro -(first ones ) needle file thread- or a Diamante pro light if you want one for your front ... both 23's ..used but lots of rubber and life left ....
