Very nice! Got any more info?
Looks tall! -

Incred...
can anyone recommend a nice quill to ahead converter like this one? Where you don’t see the transition between headset and stem.
-
• #831
Yeah it is pretty tall 😬
60cm seat tube, (64cm to seatpost clamp) but a 58 top tube which I think I can usually manage.
As for info on the frame.. I don’t know anything about Iain Dobby and haven’t found much from a bit of googling. Haven’t had a proper dig online though.

DT shifters and STIs? 44 gears?

No such thing.
like this one?
It's a 1" threadless headset and fork (Columbus Minimal). That's why you don't see the transition.
-
• #834
You sure? It's an aelle frame... the build is awesome though, I admit that.
-
• #835
Well, I think Aelle is totally underated. Same with Gara.
Internet snobbery doesn't mean it is shit in real life...I rode this around for years.. Lovely ride and perfectly capable of racing.
And that one up there along with the Bianchi that is often posted ( also with DA cranks)does it for me. So nice selection of components from different eras.http://hulsroygundersen.com/post/81099509350/restored-sancineto-head-tube-replaced-columbus

oh, right! I assumed it was a threaded headset when looking on my phone. that will explain it then :) thanks
-
• #837
I never said it was shit, imo just not enough for a thread-closer :)
-
• #838
Yeah yeah like it would ever be closed :-)

Since I’m about start my build and you guys seem to have some experience in installing cranksets on vintage steel I wanted to ask a question.
Do you guys think I could get away with installing a Potenza Crank without a torque Wrench?

No respectable wrench (no pun intended) will recommend installing cranks without a torque wrench, but I installed mine without one (and so have many others no doubt) and can confirm am still alive.
Edit: My cranks (Chorus) are Ultra-Torque though. Potenza is Power-Torque?
-
• #841
Thanks for the reply, Campagnolo updated the Potenza crank so mine will come as an ultra torque version

Bit if an impulse purchase — stumbled across this group on Ebay sooo will probably stick with the silver Rival for now..
😜

I was bidding against you.
-
• #844
I was gonna bid too. Glad I didn’t. Damn I wanted those cranks. If you ever fancy black ones, I’ll buy you some to swap
-
• #845
Strong buying :)
-
• #846
There was no cranks with it
-
• #847
No I know, he already has silver Rival cranks that I’ve been trying to steal
