• We said no :(

Brilliant dog but we only had a month left in rented accomodation before we moved so wasn't really a great time to be getting and training a new dog.

  • :)

  • Our crew of goobers as it currently stands.

The brindle puppy in the front will be going to his forever home in a few days and will be missed. He’s the only son from a litter that the pied bitch in the back had.

The black and white pied bitch on the left (with the squinty eyes and wonky ear) was a rescue that we are nursing to health before finding a loving home for. Poor thing was up for sale on a dodgy pet website, she was severely underweight and in an absolute mess so we bought her and had her couriered across the country to us. She’s doing great now though and is getting on well with the crew!

  • Our viszlas are made of the canine equivalent of miche bike components.

The boy split another nail last week, which then got horribly infected and needed an operation/general anaesthetic to address. The infection continued and it’s really sore, to the point where when it needed redressing yesterday he had to be sedated as he was in too much pain/distress to allow the vet and me to put a new dressing on. Trying to hold down a 25kg dog who is howling and writhing in agony was not a strategy for success.

  • Human knee, dog paw, human foot. Cosy game of footsie.

  • I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to live with that lot. :)

  • Anybody fancy looking after Herbie for a couple of days? I have to be away 9-11 March and, although it's not definite, my dog-sitting arrangements may have fallen through - so I'm putting out feelers...

If there's anyone who fancies the love, slobber and company of a hound, walks in the picturesque parks of Brixton, and a fridge full of food/wine/beer/etc. - then let me know. If my arrangements hold up, there'll always be another time.

  • Would have helped if you were in glasgow!

Our boy cracks us up, loves to gather up his toys and bring them all to the living room, along with his manky blanket.

  • The expression on his face is priceless. Great shot.

  • Our little dog is the same, every evening. He knows all their names and will go off an bring the one you want. Mrs Savage bought him "Nake" today and he's worn himself out already.

  • Great pic.

Got a new toy last night, a squirrel, safe to say it's a favourite as he's after them all the time and they usually troll him by running about the garden when he's inside.

  • Otto caught a squirrel just now. He does it fairly regularly. This is the first time he hasn't instantly broken it's neck though. Poor little fucked was bloodied and seemingly had broken rear legs and was putting up a hell of a fight trying to drag itself to a tree.

I hate killing things, even if its the kind thing to do. Must have words with Otto about finishing what he starts.

  • Or put a muzzle on your dog.

  • It's a good point. Honestly had not considered that before.

  • Dog spamming my landscape photo yesterday. Bad dog.

  • Anyone else find that having a dog really impacts on their time on the bike? I used to cycle everywhere in town but now I find that time is mostly used walking him. Barely been on my bike for months. Obviously winter has an impact though.

  • Yes.

  • The solution I found was to split with the gf and move far enough away that you need to put in a reasonable cycle a few times a week to see/walk the dogs. Bit of a nuclear option, obviously won't work for everyone.

  • We found a basketball in the park this morning, but it didn't last

  • Anyone got / had a toy poodle?

  • Since moving out of London and getting a dog (and kid) I've cycled a handful of times in two years. Had to start running with the dog just to get some sort of exercise.
So my 16 month-old border terrier likes to pee. On everything he shouldn't. But never indoors, it's a scent marking thing. This week he peed on

    1. Mans jacket draped over fence around basketball court
    2. Teenagers football that came to rest near him
    3. My lawnmower when I went to empty the grass catcher bit
    4. All the garden things - furniture, plant pots, washing pole, sliding doors, drainpipe, parasol etc
    5. His own tennis ball mid game of fetch
    6. My brothers car tyres (he doesn't know this)
    7. The Ercol showrooms welcome mat
    8. Local businesses advertising A board

Vet said removing his kiwis probably won't have an effect. I've got some of 'don't pee here' spray from Christmas when I was scared he'd water the tree but I can't spray everything. I'll take ideas but this was more of a rant.

  • Our dog cut his marking down by half after having us kiwis lopped. We did it because of his straying, but it was an unexpected bonus.

That said, neutering is only supposed to stop this sort of thing going if you do it young enough.

  • Did you notice any change in his personality?
