  • Hmm, VAT was never mentioned.

  • oof.... fingers crossed for you!

  • Lols

    £4767 plus vat

  • For anyone who likes typography and cars and bikes and rusty bits: http://chromeography.com/

  • Just take the £8k!

  • Got to wait for him to respond. I also turned down an offer of £8,900 before Christmas.

  • No, except for the coolant reservoir. They apparently go brittle quite quickly. I’m still considering fixing mine, but it all depends on if I can sort the starting/electric issue. Have parts lying around for fixing the rest...

  • Range Rover Inferno Downhill Challenge

    Range Rover Dragon Challenge

This new plug-in Range Rover is nuts.
    101mpg combined and 0-62 in 6.7s.

  • For a complete repaint? Minus handles and mirrors?
Thats like real cheap aint it?

  • Yes, although if the quote is without VAT then that does make quite a difference. They’ll have had the car for two and a half months by the time everything is done, so cost per hour is quite low.

  • Remember that 505 GTi "barn find" well, finally had the money chat with the owner. He's decided he can't sell for less than $7800(AUD) eek! I want it but gee, that is hard to justify when I factor in flights to pick up the car and all the necessary repairs after 20 years dormant. It's probably only worth 7k to two or three people Nationwide so maybe I'll wait a bit until I can fund the project properly. Sadly I've already sold my Gti6 to fund it... Still need 5k!

  • You only got $2800 for a GTi6 (as in a 306 GTi6)? Sounds like someone got a bargain?!

  • Fuck the Range Rover, I want to ride a bike up that road!

  • Possibly. Mechanically great but the Aussie sun is not kind to french paint. Completely gone on the roof and most panels plus some damage to a rear quarter panel and quite high miles. But it did have a freshly rebuilt engine with big cams, lightened flywheel, Quaife LSD and chassis mods. I am sad to see the 306 go as it was a blast to drive a proper old school GTi for a while. Was practical too.
    Farewell red rat!

  • It's a stunner isn't it! Definitely on my bucket list of road rides!

  • Yep it looks like an honest car and mechanically you'd done all the things I would have done. I always thought I'd own a GTi-6 or a Rallye at some point as I'd had a 205 GTi and a couple of 106's (Ph1 1.4 XSI and Ph1 Rallye) but it never happened. After looking on Autotrader UK (21 306's nationally - none of which are the hot ones) and Pistonheads (1 cab) I'm beginning to think that it'll never happen!

  • Maybe one day you'll find one. They are getting rare though. Think mine was the only one for sale in aus. You've definitely had some of the best hot hatches ever - you may have found the GTi6 a little soft! I've been having second thoughts all day though - buyer is coming tomorrow to get it. Time for one last wash & vac and little run through some local roads.

Driving it does remind you of how much modern cars have lost the plot lately. The 6 is soft and compliant, rolls on turn in and picks the inside rear wheel up - but so fast through the corners and adjustable - instant throttle response too. Just fast, comfortable and fun - even at low speeds.

  • Don’t sell it man! That’s a keeper.

  • Had a mate tour through there on the way down to Hanoi. Said it was a fucking horror to ride. Utterly unpleasant due to insane buses flying around blind corners without giving two shits.

  • +1

These were from a time when Peugeot ruled the roost when it came to cheap fun hatches that were quick, usable but exciting. It's a shame they can't make cars like this anymore.

  • Looking for the following bits to fit my Forester XT, EJ255, anyone got any leads?

    STI inlet with TGV delete
    STI intercooler
Group N engine mounts and pitch stopper
    Silicone coolant hoses
    Any ideas on replacement radiators?

    All help / suggestions welcome!

  • Does anyone know/remember that TV series where a guy builds a Fisher Fury kit car in his shed? It wasn't a Mark Evans show but swore it was called 'A kit car is born'. Was tinged with sadness as the guy recently had a divorce which I think prompted the build. Really want to watch it online if it's around.

  • Sorry man, it just left with the new owner. Massive post sale regret. However something else different, but good, is coming...

    Guy got a bargain tho

  • Still scrubs up well for 22 year old paint:

  • A lovely individual did this to the drivers side arch of my car - I believe it’s plastic based on the fact I can bend it.

    Bodge Alert
How hot would I need to heat it in order to permanently bend it back in place? Would a paint stripper heat gun work?
