Dork bars fitted. These plus a shorter stem makes things pretty chilled. Managed to grind up huge hill through our local park back home with 25kg of kid, trailer, 86kg of me and all the other junk.
I now think it maybe just needs a micro double

This might be a slow burn, I’m wondering whether to change the frame/forks for something different or just improve what I have.
Current build is orange gringo frame, surly troll forks, pizza rack, child seat on back, avid mechanical discs, very worn 1x9 gears
Issues-
Twitchy af to ride- hard work with a kid high on the back
Slow- probably needs proper MTb 1x gears or double for grinding up hills
First job- try some sweep back bars and shorter stem
Would a 29er be better for me at 6’4?
Would a touring frame be more stable loaded up?
Have the surly forks knackered the handling?
Should I swap the frame/fork, just the fork, the whole bike? Or just parts?
Lots to ponder.
