• Yeah, our wjc is pretty good and has done test cuts in the past to see what works. The end product would never look like the above drawing, but by modifying the gaps and bars we have got acceptable head tube badges. Anyway, seems like it's gone in the bin as a design anyway, so no need to worry ;)

  • Also, I just remembered that on the second d batch of head tube badges we ended up getting the logo cut backwards, as the cut was cleaner on the back side (lol). something to keep in mind for anyone looking at Diddy wjc'ing.

  • It is there, just not that visible under the paint.

  • Yep. Found it! Quite feint.

Finally build up and out for my first ride today. Riding from Aberdeen to Edinburgh.

  • Dodging dildos and fridges on the Kent lanes on the way to Whitstable. Turns out if you don't ride since dd then you get fat and slow. My kit turned race fit without me knowing

  • Awesome. What's the build list look like?

  • Thanks!

R8070 with internal routing and bar end junction box
Deda Superzero / Superleggera finishing kit.
Brooks Cambium 15 - soon to be removed. In bits after 300km this weekend on it. (might try the carved out)
Hunt 650b gravel wheels with 1.5" G Ones. - Probably going to switch to 28-30mm Pro One 700c tyres on a set of carbon air attacks I have. I found the G ones slow going, however great for the slushy conditions.

Oh... and silly expensive silca famepump just because.

  • Gorgeous. Reminds me of one of those iridescent beetles when the light catches them. Beautiful and rare bike.

  • Fucksocks! What's that they say about never assuming anything?

I assumed these would be 135mm rear OLD, not 130mm.

  • Had the same problem. Had to stretch a little to get the rear in.

  • But you bought 130mm OLD wheels?

  • No. 135. Was pain getting my rear in. Didn’t measure. But was tight. Maybe 132?

  • Is it supposed to be 135mm then? I can't see it specified on the website.

    Quite a difference between 132mm and 128mm.

  • I have a 130mm disc road hub thing. They are hens teeth, a complete oddity

Just open it up a little it will be fine. Think of it as something like Surly’s Knotrite OLN :)

Edit: no evidence of it being squished in transit?

  • Indeed: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13682487/

Good to know I'm not going mad (just getting forgetful).

  • Mine was packaged up pretty thoroughly, however there was no rear axle spacer. Theoretically could have been inadvertently cold set in transit, but paint doesnt show any blemishes.

  • I wouldn't even have considered it, except I was reading a thread about a 130mm disc bike this morning.

The frame has been shipped back and forth two or three times, but always with a spacer in the rear end. When I get it back I'll check the alignment to be sure, I'd just assumed it was welding distortion.

  • Mine needs to be pulled apart to get the rear wheel in.

  • Ahhh think we may have passed you on our way to West Malling for friends and kiddies meet up. Stunning day. Bike looks ace, even whizzing past in the motor.

  • Isen have been in touch and as the OLD would have been checked after it was built and considering how far out it is, they're of the opinion that it has been squished in transit

So once I've checked the alignment it may well need cold-setting: they've offered to send someone up at the weekend to do it, return it to them for the work or for me to do it.

  • I forced a terrified 22 year old to promise me he hadn't doctored the checklists today. No matter that he is over 6 foot and I'm 5' 7" in heels, he was in fear and his tears told me he was telling the truth. It seems from what you've said, and what I've seen people saying since you posted that the generic spacers we bought weren't sufficient. The frames are 135, and are welded as such so when they have the right wheel in the are properly aligned. If anyone has any issues with it, just slide into my dm' s. @Scilly.Suffolk sorry for not calling you personally, I've been dealing with estate agents all day. :(

  • Yes, it was a really great ride. I really enjoy going down to Whitstable.
