Clean and sand the shit out of your probably contaminated rotors too, just in case.

Am I correct to assume there's nothing special about flat mount caliper bolts and I can use any M5 bolt of the right length?
-
• #4604
Dont forget threadlock

Make sure you use 160mm rotors front and back with the Juin Tech brakes; they say themselves not to use 140mm rotors.
-
• #4606
On the front half of them look a bit like cleat bolts (extra wide flat head for a larger hex key):
Also on the rear if you use an 160mm adapter
but yes they are all m5 thread -

Do the BR-RS805 calipers (https://www.competitivecyclist.com/shimano-br-rs805-flat-mount-disc-brake-caliper) take the same pads as the RS505 (105) calipers?

Yup.

Is there anywhere to get spyres from europe delivered cheaper than here https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fast-Shipping-TRP-Spyre-Flat-Mount-Mechancial-Disc-Brake-Set-160mm-Rotors-F-R/122870265584?hash=item1c9ba376f0:g:CiwAAOSwSbtZlu5E ? Or any better option?

Thats cheap i presume your levers are compatible . Dont forget good housings and cables .
-
• #4612
Doubt it, that’s a good price outside of China
-
• #4613
Yeah 6800 levers and I've ordered a dura ace 9000 cable set? Thought that was compressionless?

Shimano Easy Hose Joint system.
The internal routing is too narrow for the EHJ, so I'll need to take the end off.
Anyone else done this and reused the insert (brand new kit)?

I think my rear brake setup is contaminated with oil - it squeals super loud.
Why though, would the squeal stop as soon as I pedal a little bit (still with the brakes on)?
It's almost as if the pads or something is knocked into a more locked in position when I pedal a bit and it stops the noise immediately.
Regarding contaminated pads - can they be saved? Disc cleaner didn't do shit.
Also, what's the lever throw like on the new Ultegra Di2/hydro levers? Mine are shit.

I have no idea whether this is possible but maybe the wheel is slightly misaligned and pedalling a bit is enough to pull it straight.

I have this issue currently with a leaky Shimano caliper (going to replace it with Hope as I'm fed up).
Heat does indeed kill the noise for a wheel, I don't know why.
Contaminated pads - my current pre-ride routine demands I sand down the top layer of the pad which has got contaminated, and clean pads and rotors with IPA (not that kind). It's fine for a ride and then the caliper leaks again.

With me, anything is possible!
But it's a thru-axle rear wheel which should be stiffer, less prone to moving than a QR wheel. -

In the past I've burned off contaminated oil by hard braking or extended brake dragging. I've not had this long enough to sort it that way but each time I stop, there's more black stuff on the disc rotor so I guess there's lots of oil to burn off.
Okay, I'll pull the pads out and knock a layer off before hosing them with disc cleaner or IPA (not that kind).
Any preference for sandpaper grit or should I just use what I've got? gets metal file out :)

I will let you know about R8070 soon
Bin the pads, clean rotor with acetone, you might've picked up oil from the road.

• #4621
I'm using whatever sandpaper we had in the shed. Metal file didn't do much.
But yeah, get Hopes. Made in Britain, for the British.

• #4622
No, I picked up oil from the fucked caliper. Bro, do u even read my Build From Hell threads?
-
• #4623
Fuck that. I'm persevering with the worst Shimano product ever made until I destroy it and see what the Ultegra or DA is like. Actually the caliper death was mechanic's fault, it's the levers I hate.

You know I can see 'campagnolo' in that URL right? You may as well link to a daily mail article.
Speaking of which, can someone write a plugin that shows me the shimano part whenever anything from campag is posted?I think in the case of the R785s they did a Garmin and released a beta.
Yokozuna Reaction, rock solid all the way.
