I liked the idea of protecting the light rather than having it all 'hang out'. That part of the stays is good for grabbing the bike when it's loaded. It also means swapping sides when I swap countries - symmetry = efficiency aka laziness :)
Also, I'm not sure my rear light has a bolt-on mount. ?
There's a brake mount hole so a bracket there might work. I don't have the frame so I can't tell. Keeping it on the seattube means the cable doesn't have to extend to the stays and brake bridge. Shorter cable run, less likely to be caught on something.
