I kind of hope it's Sevilla but it's probably Najar?

• #7028
That would very definitely be my guess.

Someone, yet to be named, failed a test at the Vuelta San Juan last month
Or possibly not

The old hacked account excuse. A likely story.
They deleted the tweet last night and put out a statement saying all samples taken are still being tested.

"There's going to be people saying this and that. I don't want anyone thinking I'm a bad guy. "
Nah your just a cheat mate.

Isn't that just the go to excuse though.

Isn't that just the go to excuse
It is, but it also one which has worked before (several times, with Clenbuterol), because it can be the truth. Clearly the ADA didn't buy it in this case, you'd have to look through all the evidence to decide whether you agree with that verdict

"I was trying to make 52kg and I wouldn't want to put muscle on. I was literally trying to cut weight. It doesn't make sense."
Losing weight, gaining power, does he have Asthma?

I think you’re referring to a coordinated raid in Lucca as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Rumsas’ son. I believe team managers, pharmacists and coaches were arrested.
-
• #7038
Yep thats the one . Ta

I hadn't heard of that before, sad story.

It’s horrifying, isn’t it? The whole family sounds so dysfunctional and fucked up, but to end up with your son dying, probably because of the doping facilitated by his father, is just sad beyond belief.

Quite sad

Froome is either super confident he will be exonerated or he is digging himself a big hole.
-
• #7045
Why? He’s following the rules as they are currently defined.
-
• #7046
The language he is using will potentially bite him on the backside.
Aren’t we a bit bored of the I’m different excuse from every athlete that tests positive, all vow to clear their name. Of course some do but it seems to me as a layman that more don’t.
By going this route it raise the stakes, of he is proven guilty in my opinion it further tarnishes sport. -
• #7047
I get your point, but he hasn’t been caught with a car boot full of banned substances, nor has his blood been found in a clinic in Madrid. He’s seemingly over done his asthma medication, and, under due process, has the right to demonstrate how that happened.
He’s in a no win situation, if he races he’s condemned, if he took a voluntary suspension until he was cleared or banned, he’d be condemned.
-
• #7048
Of course.
My thought would be if lots of people have gone through this non publicly, I think we might have heard from them by now.
In his interview where he says he hasn’t broken any rules I find his stance unhelpful. Of course if he would take another approach he might appease me but maybe others would be more doubtful.
I don’t think his interviews have really been that good, he doesn’t come across to me as being very transparent about the situation. -
• #7049
I’m different
Physiologically speaking, he probably is. There's not that many riders that have been as successful at GTs without a load of EPO pumped into them, not in recent years anyway.
He's still a filthy cheat. Because SKY :)

Who was the last GT winner to test positive?
Someone, yet to be named, failed a test at the Vuelta San Juan last month.
Ooh, let me guess who.
