Shipping from Netherlands to EU countries

Posted on
  • I had a seller pull out of a sale because shipping prices from Netherlands to Ireland were way more than either of us estimated.

I know that we have a few sellers here that ship from Netherlands. Who do you use and what are typical prices for a full bike.

Interested to hear if anyone has sent a bike to Ireland or Sweden or any other non UK country. I gather prices to UK are not that bad.

  • @HerrJ might be able to offer some good advice?

  • I'm from the NL and had to pull a few sales due to this last year. Really fucking annoying. I spoke to @HerrJ a while ago and he told me he can ship his bikes and frames through a company accounts so he can get normal rates.

  • I'm going to NL in two weeks time for a holiday. Could bring a bike back to UK if that's any help.

  • @Heldring
Where were you shipping to. What prices roughly and what carrier

    @user74623
Thanks for offer but way too complicated I would imagine

  • One to Latvia and another to the UK, the national post carrier I normally usually use wouldn't even take it anymore because of the size (normally would take it for €20,- from the top of my head) and DHL et al quoted ridiculous prices in the €100/200 range

  • I use GLS
best service price wise in the Eu ;)

  • How much they usually charge per frameset if I may ask?

  • Yup, It's a big difference. If you don't have a business account then I would advise to use GLS, you could also try DPD.

  • DPD doesnt cost that much, NL to LT was 35€

  • @Kobe

Is there a website that I can use for estimating GLS shipping cost from NL

I have tried the GLS estimator below but it does not give the option of shipping from NL to anywhere

    https://gls-group.eu/IE/en/occasional-shipment/shipping-calculator

It does allow IRE to NL and gives as estimate of €47 so can't see why they don't give the reverse option.

  • Must be the box volume thing cos I can get 20kg of beer from Belgium to UK for 9.50 Euro via DPD

  • Well I have had a response from GLS that they will not ship boxes wider or higher than 60cm. Maybe they do for business customers. I can't see how you can fit a bike with wheels into a box that size. If you place it at an angle I'm sure you will run into problems with the overall dimension restrictions {L + 2*W + 2*H <300}.

Interested to hear if anyone has managed it with GLS in a non-business account.

  • any tips on where to do the beer shopping?

  • DPD max dimensions are 100 x 50 x 50cm. For a non business delivery.

  • Belgiuminabox.com

  • I am using GLS for the last 3 years and i never had any problems with the size
    Size does matter
but with a box from 100 long and 50 high you can work
    be creative :)
