Was that the Hylex levers/SRAM shifter I posted in the montercross thread? How much did they go for? I'm thinking about attempting to bodge together some Hylex levers and retro MTB hydraulic rim brakes. Just curious what you ended up paying for them.
Edit: dug through my comment history; it was the same set that I posted (although you might have seen it elsewhere), went for £44. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRP-Hylex-hydraulic-brake-levers-SRAM-bar-end-shifter-10-Speed-/273051191900?_trksid=p2141725.m3662.l6403 - probably a bit much for what I had in mind but definitely a bargain for an actual nice bike. Especially since they seem to be one of only two (used) sets ever sold on eBay!
Looking forward to this anyway, I wanted to buy a Salsa Vaya

Can I be the first to suggest some sick flames?
-
• #33
Yup, bargain of the century imo.
I have a feeling that HS33 calipers need a lot of fluid pushed, but I may be wrong. Magura did make a drop bar system, HS66, but they're pretty rare - they were specced on top-end Dawes Galaxys and tandems and such

Maybe a smol flame. As an homage.

Terrible photo aside, the 1st gen Vaya had some pretty crazy clearance if you drop to a more fashionable wheel size, 2.35 in the front, 2.2 in the back. Got a feeling they might have gone a bit skinny after that though.

Curious to see! Here's a 2012 Vaya with some. meaty looking 2.25 Ardents

Yikes! Can't be much clearance with those...

Back to ultra compact as soon as I can cable up a mech/find a rear shifter!

I really fancy a nice, slim, TIGed steel stem for this build. Is there anything out there besides the Nitto UI-2 and SimWorks Wendy? Why are they so preposterously expensive? Are they not reasonably easy to make? Hmm.

I've been looking for a while myself.
Found a Japanese seller on eBay that sells for relatively cheap but unsure what you would pay in terms of import duty ...
