Omega called, they can't get the buckle for the herringbone strap, at least not for now.

About an hour from me in a nearby town at a gold flipper. Was on an afternoon out. Can provide details in pm or middle-man depending on where you are.

I was kinda tempted to go full malcom, if I had the cash. Especially being so similar to the jekyll my grandfather bought from a looky looky.
Seemed amazing that it was complete papers down to the bag from the shop...though only mid-90's I suppose.

Notice no buckle- that’s the problem, the strap doesn’t come with the hardware.

You buy the buckle separately, you can either go for an original omega one or something cheaper. Watchobsession will sell you one

Sacrilege, I know, but this has kept me occupied for a couple of days. Not sure I have lost my yearning for an Omega - it’s a horses for courses situation. Apple Watch for fitness, Omega would be for dressing up (that sounds bad but I’m struggling for words).

cheers guys.
I've got an incoming Omega Memomatic which I've bought but hasn't been shipped as I'm not working in London at the moment and I don't want it sitting on the porch for a week. It's minty and sharp, I probably looked at 15+ examples before buying this one. I'm probably going to sell it to pay for the Rolex if anyone is interested in it?

Close! This is a 166.072. 980 cal Valjoux movement. It has an alarm with hour and minute settings which charges from the automatic movement (so no need to wind it separately like the JLC). It’s unpolished and original from what I can see so what I would consider to be “collector’s grade”.

That's lovely!

Nice datejust and omega. Cool that you don’t have to wind the alarm separately.
Have you got in mind a non metal strap for the datejust as yet? For occasional swopping.

Everything.
Have bought and sold stuff from 60's and 70's. Currently only have recent(ish) bits.
Oh and a 30 year old Submariner. -

Coming back to this, it needs to be an Omega buckle, in brushed steel, 20mm width - and I can't find that.

My trusty Mamnick X Instrmnt o1 needs a new battery. Does anyone know anywhere in Hackney I could take it into to have a new battery fitted who I can trust not to screw it up/damage the watch?
Clearly u need to be called Malcom to rock that.
